Beep, beep, beep, beep…. I’m up!!! 6:00 am. The alarm is goes off once again. Another day of work, school, errands, chores, meetings….. and so on and so on. Let’s be honest for a minute ladies, most days, by the time your head hits the pillow the last thing on your mind is well…. spending some “quality time” with your man. I mean around 2:00 or 3:00pm, you had good intentions, but when bed time rolls around, the most attractive thing to you is the down comforter you bought on sale at Target.
I can totally relate! Having 7 children of our own, including our youngest (we’ll nick name her Birth Control) who ends up in our bed most nights, a full life/schedule most days of the week, not to mention… I’m 39 & 30 plus months! (Hey if we can refer to a 3 year old as 36 months, I’m getting in on it too!) there’s just not much energy left at the end of a long day. But here’s the deal, if you don’t invest in your relationship today, you’ll regret it tomorrow. It doesn’t have to just be “quality time” it can be as simple as getting the kids to bed and hanging out on the porch with a cup of coffee. That doesn’t mean scrolling through Facebook and giving each other a head nod every 3-5 minutes. Maybe it means relaxing and holding hands or talking about your day, or even (yes I know this crazy talk!!) planning a weekend get away!! Just the two of you!! When you look up from your phone, tv, computer….some day, there won’t be anymore little eyeballs staring back at you. But hopefully your better half will still be there. Don’t let him/her become a stranger. You aren’t just roomies raising a tribe of goldfish eating, bubble guppy watching, tiny people. You are BFF’s!! Have fun together, invest in your friendship, so that when life changes from gold fish and bubble guppies to Red Bull and college exams, you will be closer than ever and excited to continue on this journey of life together. ❤ frOlic- Michelle McNew
